The USPS rate increase of 05/14/2007 was both good news and bad news for customers and companies doing business on the INTERNET.  In the US and Canada rates generally increased about 15%.  For other countries, the post office introduced entirely new classifications for ground and air shipping and rates more than doubled.  However, this was ameliorated by the introduction of a Flat Rate Priority Mail envelope (airmail) that is actually less expensive than the new surface mail rates in most cases.  As a result, shipping times for our books everywhere in the world except the US and Canada have been reduced from 8 weeks to 2 weeks, while the customer pays less for shipping than if we put the books in a box and load them on a slow boat to wherever you are located.
