For two young children life was about to change.  There was no warning of what was about to happen—no notice given of what would be.  It had started out as a typical day but it would end in anything but a typical way.

William, age ten, and his six-year-old sister Dusty were playing in their yard.  As the American flag waved upon the flagpole a mysterious ripple appeared near the ground below it.  At first it was hardly noticeable, but then for no apparent reason it began to grow and stretch.  It almost looked like a heat ripple, but being a cool spring day, it wasn’t hot.
