Joseph A. Grispino
Joseph A. Grispino has earned two graduate degrees in
theology and biblical studies in Rome, Italy followed by graduate degrees in
education from Boston College and social ethics from the University of Southern
California. He taught biblical studies at various divinity schools on the East
coast. Professor Grispino continued teaching biblical studies on the West coast
at California State University, Northridge. While teaching philosophy at
various community colleges in the Los Angeles area he moonlighted for several
years as a teacher of Latin at a private high school. The idea of writing the
present philosophy book originated at this school.
Grispino authored four books. Two are introductions and
annotations on the Old Testament and the New Testament. A third book, The Bible
Now, contains an anthology of articles previously published in his newsletter,
Current Scripture Notes. The fourth, Foundations of Biblical Spirituality, is a
translation of articles, which had previously appeared in various French
periodicals.
During the summers, his travels took him to 33 countries.
Speaking skills in five languages added zest to his travels.
Professor Grispino retired from Chapman University in
California where he taught philosophy. He is a member of the American
Philosophical Association.
