BIOGRAPHY
William Holmes has a Ph. D in biophysics and advanced training in artificial
intelligence. His major activities have been in the fields of computerized
radiotherapy planning and medical laboratory automation, the latter focused on
detecting micro and nano quantities of biologically active compounds. He is a
member of the Association for Computer Machinery and the Institute for
Electrical and Electromechanical Engineers. He served for many years as a
faculty member in the Biochemistry Department and the Biomedical Computer
Laboratory at the Washington University School of Medicine, and later as a
faculty member in the Radiation Oncology Department of the University of Arizona
Medical School. Dr. Holmes is the author of numerous articles, including those
on the future of microtechnology. He has addressed major implications of
microtechnology at conferences of the World Future Society.
